Low environmental impact structures for antennas support
With the increase in the number of radio stations throughout the country, reducing the environmental impact has become an ever more sensitive issue, in particular in historical town centres, in tourist areas and nature reserves.
ITAS distributes a range of products for this purpose. One of these is the artificial Austrian Black Pine (Pinus Nigra - Austrian variety), the standard versions of which are able to camouflage steel poles of variable height from 12 to 24 metres.

 

ITAS launches a brand new artificial tree, the Cypress, complete the existing range of palms and pines trees for a range always more in harmony with the environment,.



GENERAL DESCRIPTION

THE TRUNK of the artificial pine consists of a cane-shaped steel pole, divided into several shafts, according to the overall height of the structure.
The outside is covered with self-extinguishing fiberglass-reinforced-plastic which is resistant to UVA rays and to atmospheric agents and, in appearance, resembles the bark of the Austrian Black Pine. For a more realistic effect, artificial dry branches and knots, typical of the bark structure, are mounted along the trunk.

THE FOLIAGE consists of a suitable number of branches with tubular components of different diameters, in order to achieve the natural cone-shaped and typically irregular appearance of the true foliage.
Tufts of needles similar to those of the natural tree are attached to the branches.
The use of all-plastic and fiberglass materials ensure absolute radioelectric transparency.

ANTENNAS are fixed at the top on a central steel rod or, when different spacing is required, on special galvanised steel arms which are painted the same colour as the branches. The arrangement of the foliage totally camouflages the antennas.


FEEDERS AND SERVICE CABLES run down the inside of the trunk and are clipped to steel cables and fixed by means of clamps.
At the base, they exit through an underground opening.

FOUNDATIONS consist of a buried, reinforced concrete plinth.
Anchoring of the artificial pine is achieved by means of foundation bolts sunk in the concrete base.
The civil engineering work is completed by an underground passage for exit of the service cables and feeders.

INSTALLATION of the trunk, pre-packed at the factory, is not dissimilar to the erection of normal, slip-joint polygonal poles.
The foliage is assembled on site by inserting the branches into special steel shanks, welded to the supporting structure of the pole.
The whole erection process is easy, fast and requires no special tools or specialist personnel.
The top is accessed by means of a hydraulic cradle.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

. DESCRIPTION:
Polygonal pole in galvanised steel, consisting of several slip-joint sections. Antennas supporting pipe made of painted galvanised steel.

. CALCULATION STANDARDS:
EIA-222-F-1996.*

. RADIANT SYSTEM LOADS:
Equivalent surface area of antennas at top = 7mē.

. SWING AND SWAY:
1° at top with wind speed 100 km/h.

. MATERIALS:
Metal sheet Fe 510 c (UNI EN 10025).*
Nuts and bolts Class 6.8 with washers and lock nuts (UNI EN 20898-1).*
. CORROSION PROTECTION:
Hot dip galvanising conforming to Standard ASTM A123 or EN 1461.*

* On request different International Standards can be applied.

 

PLASTIC COVERINGS

. DESCRIPTION:
Trunk in artificial bark made of fiberglass reinforced resins. Branch supporting structure in fiberglass reinforced plastic. Outer covering in fiberglass.
Needle tufts in plastic material with supporting core in glass roving and resin.

. FLAME RESISTANCE:
Class1.

. AGEING AND RESISTANCE TO ATMOSPHERIC AGENTS:
Conforming to standard ASTM G 26/83.

. OPERATING CONDITIONS:
Temperature: from -30° to +50° C - Humidity: l00%.

. RADIOELECTRIC TRANSPARENCY:
Comparative measurements on bands 400 - 2000 MHz
showed attenuation of less than 0.4 db.
